A Clear-Eyed View Of How The World Works

Fareed Zakaria knows about the World. This guy should be in Obama's think tank. He knows more about all of it, all of the world. He is generally a political moderate. He's been the editor and contributor to Foreign Affairs and then  Newsweek International. He's written some books I am about to go buy, he hosted a show on PBS, and now has Fareed Zakaria GPS (Global Public Square) on CNN.  I don't have cable, I haven't seen him on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart a record eleven times, but having learned about this guy, I am watching his interviews on line. Pay attention, this is important, and YES you have to watch them all.

So, most recently he busted Palin hard. (3min 15sec)

Then there was this, back in June, about appeasement (1min 42sec), which according to Wikipedia

Appeasement is "the policy of settling international quarrels by admitting and satisfying grievances through rational negotiation and compromise, thereby avoiding the resort to an armed conflict which would be expensive, bloody, and possibly dangerous."

Here he is back on January 18, 2008 on Bill Maher. (8min 12sec)

And HERE is the Obama interview. The first five minutes are a little fluffy, but it gets great after that. World Politics. It's so good, all the way till the end. Aired July 13, 2008 (it's an excellent 30min)

You've been doing our homework.

Zakaria is no one to mess with. He's a tough interviewer and knows more of the intricacies of domestic and foreign policy issues than any ten other talking-heads put together (and probably 90% of our elected officials).

I'm looking forward to pulling up a beer and watching all of these after work tonight.

Thanks for your hard work, hamachi. I appreciate it.
